Mt Gravatt State School encourages all children to participate in sport. The school is involved in inter-school sport at a district level (Mount Gravatt) in netball, rugby league, soccer, softball, T-ball, cricket. Friday afternoon is designated intra-school and interschool sport time. A Physical Education specialist teacher works with the students two days a week. Specialist coaches will provide assistance where possible.

Swimming lessons, in Terms 1 and 4, are part of the school curriculum and are compulsory. Children who are ill or injured are excused but a note is required each time. A medical certificate or doctor’s letter is required for total exemption from swimming. Students will require a bathing cap for swimming lessons. Sun shirts are recommended.
